Workshop Facilitator
Tahlia is deeply passionate about youth mental health and the importance of early intervention. With a professional background in learning support, foster care, alcohol and other drug services and experience within the justice system, she’s seen firsthand how mental health challenges move through individuals, families, and entire communities.
Tahlia’s passion is also personal, growing up in a family affected by mental health and navigating her own journey with depression and anxiety, she knows what it’s like to feel isolated and misunderstood. Drawing on this experience, Tahlia is committed to being a source of support for others and to challenging the stigma around mental health and gender stereotypes and expectations that often prevent both men and women from seeking help or speaking up, especially having felt the pressures and expectations of growing up as a young woman in Australia and knowing firsthand the toll these can take. These personal and family experiences not only shaped her perspective but also inspired her to become a Social Worker, driven by a desire to walk alongside and support others through their own mental health journeys.
Outside of her advocacy and work, Tahlia finds joy in the little things – curling up with a good book, early-morning gym sessions, eating good foods, quality time with her friends, family and her pets, and never saying no to coffee (or sweet treat).
